DBS checks

We have recently launched a new DBS Service for members. Previously, we have been a Registered Umbrella Body, meaning that we could carry out DBS checks on behalf of your organisation. Due to the number of checks we process per year, we have only been able to process checks on paper forms. Members tell us that they find this hard to manage and inefficient - and we agree! That’s why we have partnered with CBS to offer digital DBS checks for members instead.

What do members get access to?

Members get access to free DBS checks every year, but the number you can request will depend on your level of membership.

2 free volunteer checks

2 band organisation
3 free volunteer checks

3 band organisation
4 free volunteer checks

4 band organisation
5 free volunteer checks

If you need more than this per year, then you are able to pay for more.

How to request a DBS Check for your band

Follow the steps below to submit a DBS request from your band admin account. If you prefer a video walkthrough, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Before you start

You’ll need to be logged in.
You must be a Band Admin to access the band dashboard.
You’ll be asked to confirm BandSafe training.

Steps

Log in to your account.
Click the orange button at the top showing your name.
Select My Account.
Under band admin options, find Manage Your Band.
Click the orange “Manage Your Band” button to open your band dashboard.
In the band dashboard, go to About.
Click the three stripes / menu icon next to About.
Scroll down and select Request a DBS Check.
On the DBS page, scroll down to the Request a DBS Check section.
Click Request a DBS Check to start the request form.
Select your band name (especially important if you’re linked to more than one band).
Answer the question: Has one of your members undertaken BandSafe training in the last two years?
Select Yes to continue, if No you will need to book onto the BandSafe Training.
Complete the form with the required details.
Click Submit DBS Request.

What happens next?

If your band has DBS credits available, your request will go through as free.
If you’ve used your DBS allowance, you’ll be taken to a payment page to purchase an additional volunteer DBS check.
