How the Coaching Works: The Two-Session Cycle
Preparation & Initial Analysis
Before your first session, you will need to upload the following materials so your mentor can prepare:
- Rehearsal Footage: A video segment from a recent session (please confirm parental consent has been obtained).Personal Context: Information about your background, experience, and the group you lead.
- Development Focus: A clear outline of the specific aspects of your leadership you would like to work on.
One of our expert Brass Foundations team members will then analyse the footage and prepare detailed written feedback. This analysis will be the basis for your initial online meet-up (approximately 45 minutes), where your mentor will talk through their observations with you and suggest some next steps.
Expect to see positive changes in your learners at your very next session. To reinforce this growth, you will be invited to submit a second video within 2–3 weeks, which your mentor will analyse and use to provide further actionable ideas during your final online meet-up.
Following the second video analysis, your mentor will provide further guidance and help you map out your future next steps. All constructive feedback is delivered in writing, and any suggested BBE training or resources will be included as part of your investment.
The analysis of your first video will generate bespoke observations across three critical areas—Musical Content, Musical Progression, Musical Delivery and Group Engagement—providing a robust foundation for our first discussion. We will, of course, prioritise any specific aspects you wish to focus on.
The final session will deepen the development process. We will revisit Musical Content, Progression, Delivery and Engagement, tailoring the discussion specifically to the outcomes of your first session, reinforcing the progress you and your group have made and addressing the focus of your involvement in this process. All constructive feedback is delivered in a written format. The cost of the service includes any necessary BBE-provided resources that your mentor suggests to aid your ongoing development.
