Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign with the aim of recognising the contributions of volunteers, taking place this year Monday 1 - Sunday 7 June. As volunteers are the beating heart of banding, we want to celebrate all those who organise, fundraise, transport, teach, fix, support and keep everything running.
Enter the Unsung Hero Awards. Until nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday 27 May, BBE invites all members to nominate someone who they believe goes above and beyond to support their band and community.
Submit your nominations
Have someone in mind? Nominations are now open, via online form. Nominators are encouraged to go in-depth on why they are nominating their particular volunteer - who they are, what makes them special, and what they have done to support their band/organisation.
Nominees will be subject to shortlisting. Five nominees will be spotlighted across BBE’s socials at the start of Volunteers’ Week, with the winner announced on the Saturday.
In addition to a certificate that will be emailed to all shortlisted nominees, the winner will receive a bundle of BBE goodies and the title of BBE Volunteer of the Year.
Get involved with Volunteers’ Week
Did you know that Volunteers’ Week has been around for over 40 years? The initiative launched in 1984, to provide a platform for organisations to thank their current and past volunteers for the invaluable work.
There’s no right or wrong way to get your band involved in Volunteers’ Week. You could host a coffee morning in your bandroom or village hall, hold your own awards event, or simply post about the great things your volunteers do on social media (don’t forget to use #VolunteersWeek).
Find out more ways you can get involved via the Volunteers’ Week website, where you’ll also find downloadable assets.
