Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass is a band straight out of the ‘Shire’, with our base being the Parish Hall in the sleepy town of Cleobury Mortimer, but don’t let its lethargic origin’s mislead you…

After making a return to the competition circuit, CMCB were 4th Section Champions at Wychavon in 2011, National Finalists at Cheltenham in 2012 and in March 2014, made our debut in the 3rd Section at the Midlands Areas. In 2016 we were crowned 4th section Midlands Champions and went on to take 2nd at the National Brass Band Championships.

2017 was another exciting year, with a 3rd at the Midland Areas and another trip to Cheltenham. 2018 saw us promoted to the third section with a 3rd place in the Midland Areas, and another appearance at Cheltenham for the National Finals.

2019 and 2020 has appearances at the Regional Finals, gaining promotion to the second section in the process.

2021 welcomed Matthew Ludford-King to the stand to lead CMCB see out of their enforced hiatus, however following a few months of blowing out the cobwebs, CMCB are as strong as ever and looking forward to getting back to the bandstand. Under the baton of Matt there was another appearance at the National Finals in Cheltenham in 2023.

2023 welcomes David Nicholson to the stand. David comes with a wealth of brass banding experience, including five years as a baritone and euphonium player with The International Staff Band and ten years as Bandmaster for The Birmingham Citadel Band. David has demonstrated his success when it comes to competing having previously led St Austell Town Band, Redruth Town Band and City of Coventry Brass. David has recently been appointed a Director and Trustee of Black Dyke band.

You can find us practising on Tuesday evenings at Cleobury Mortimer Parish Hall where you more than welcome to join us. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, you're welcome in the bandroom.
