Event description

Join Music Director of Derwent Brass and Executive Member of the Brass Band Conductors’ Association Jack Capstaff to explore the role of music directors in community engagement.

In this session Jack will discuss how music directors and conductors can define mission statements and develop strategies to increase the level of community engagement in music making, with particular reference to increasing participation from those who have historically had less exposure to brass bands and western classical music.

This online session is ideal for conductors, creative decision-makers and event managers of bands to explore new approaches and challenge the notion of ‘contest-first’ brass banding.

This session will use the Zoom Webinar format, with Q&A opportunities throughout the session.

This webinar is free to BBE & BBCA members and Conference ticket-holders and £10 for non-members Please read our cancellation policy here.
