Supported by leading wind instrument manufacturer Yamaha, Brass Band England’s Online Development Programme is a series of webinars designed to encourage and develop the skills of brass players and bands, covering elements including performance, artistic direction and band governance. The latest Yamaha Performing Artist to feature in the programme is world-renowned American trumpet player, composer and educator Allen Vizzutti in a webinar scheduled for Tuesday 9 February.
In a career spanning 50 years and 40 countries, Vizzutti has performed with artists as diverse as Chick Corea, 'Doc' Severinsen, the NBC Tonight Show Band, the Airmen Of Note, the Army Blues and Army Symphony Orchestra, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, Japan's NHK Orchestra, the Budapest Radio Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and has also performed solo concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, Banff Center for the Performing Arts, Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Teton, Vail, Aspen and Breckenridge Music Festivals, the Charles Ives Center and Lincoln Center in New York City. During the 1980s, Vizzutti performed on over 100 motion picture soundtracks including Back To The Future and Star Trek, as well as countless TV shows, commercials and sessions with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, the Commodores and Prince.
A recording artist in both jazz and classical genres, Vizzutti is also renowned as an educator, teaching at the Eastman School of Music, the Banff Center for the Performing Arts, Kansas State University, Ohio State University, West Texas State University, the Skidmore Jazz Institute and the Trompeten Akademie of Bremen Germany. Indeed his extensive treatise, ‘The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method’ and his ‘New Concepts for Trumpet’, have become standard works for trumpet study worldwide.
Commenting on behalf of Yamaha, Product Marketing Specialist Jeremy Smith says, “This is fantastic opportunity for trumpet players at all stages of development to learn from someone who isn’t just a great player but also an internationally recognised teacher with a lifetime of experience as a performer and composer.”
The webinar is free to access for Brass Bands England members or £5 for non-members and is delivered using the Zoom webinar platform.
