Comber Brass

Comber Brass is a community brass band based in Comber in Co. Down, N. Ireland. The band rehearses weekly in the Youth Hall of St. Mary’s Parish Church, Comber and regularly competes in the 2nd Section of the regional brass competitions organised annually by Brass Bands Northern Ireland and the North of Ireland Bands Association.

Located on the shores of Strangford Lough, Comber town is well known locally for being the birthplace of Thomas Andrews, the designer of RMS Titanic, who died when it sank on its maiden voyage in 1912. The origins of Comber Brass however predate this historic event, having been first formed as a flute combination in 1900, when it was originally named as the ‘2nd Comber Boys Brigade Flute Band’. For more than 120 years since then the band has played a prominent role in supporting the traditions and culture of the local community of the Ards & North Down area, whether at festivals, civic events, church services or at the cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
