Brendan has been involved with many of New Zealand's top bands, including North Shore Brass, Dalewool Auckland Brass, and Wellington Brass.
Brendan is currently the professional conductor of Howick Brass (C Grade) and made his contest conducting debut to great success at the 2018 Auckland Band Association contest, winning the B Section. This was followed with a second place at the 2019 National Championships. He also acts in the role of assistant conductor at Hutt City Brass, where he occupies the soprano cornet position.
Outside of brass banding, Brendan is Music Librarian at the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Music Director of Wellington Youth Sinfonietta, and has been invited to perform as guest conductor for the Hutt Valley Orchestra, Wellington City Concert Band, Capital City Wind Band, Wellington Chamber Orchestra, and others. Brendan has studied conducting through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has undertaken studies privately with a number of leading international conductors including James Judd.
