Event description

Threads in the Ground and Brass Bands England have collaborated to create a sound piece, Ancestral Reverb. The piece will weaves together different strands of audio including:

  • Some of the earliest known audio recordings of colliery bands (1903)
  • New recordings of the Durham Miners Association band playing the same archival pieces
  • Digitally sampled reverb from down the drift mine at Beamish (the living museum)
  • And samples of BBE members playing their favourite excerpts from classic colliery pieces

Join Director of Threads in the Ground, Adam Cooper, COO of Brass Bands England, Sarah Baumann, Electronic Musician and Producer, Bert Verso and Poet, Jacob Polley to discuss their involvement in the work and an opportunity for a live listening event of the new piece.

This session will use the Zoom Webinar platform, with Q&A opportunities throughout the session.

This webinar is free to all to attend as part of The Brass Band Conference 2024: ‘Creative Communities’.
