The Brass Band Conductors' Association’s (BBCA’s) international annual flagship conducting competition welcomes entrants from across the world. Presentations will be made to the top three finalists and the winner will receive a cash prize of £200, a year's free membership of the BBCA and a winner’s trophy. They will also have the opportunity to work in rehearsal and performance with a championship brass band. The best UK-based entrant will also gain a dedicated prize.
Applicants are asked to submit up to two videos of themselves conducting an ensemble in either a rehearsal or a performance, from which ten entrants will be invited to attend the live semi-final, to be held at Halifax Minster, West Yorkshire, on Saturday 28 June 2025. Please see the BBCA competition rules before entering.
Closing date for video entries is midday on Thursday 10 April 2025.
The cost of entry into the competition is £50 GBP for the video entry round with BBCA members receiving a 20% discount. Anyone joining the Association when entering will be entitled to the discounted entry price. For those chosen to go through to the semi-final and final a further payment of £50 GBP will be required, with BBCA members again eligible for a 20% discount. Join the BBCA.
All semi-finalists will receive feedback from the adjudication panel on their conducting skills. All non-shortlisted BBCA members will receive audio feedback on their videos.
