About this event
Coventry is a city full of incredible singing, dancing and performing talent – you just need to know where to look.
Taking place across five weekends this summer, GENERATE Festival of Community Performance brings the wealth of hidden talent in Coventry and Warwickshire to a green space near you.
Join us outdoors for an afternoon full of food, drink and entertainment. It promises to be fun for families, festival-goers and anyone looking for a fun day in the sun to watch up-and-coming talent from across the region.
The programme will be wonderfully diverse, creative and accessible to all ages.
Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and The Albany Theatre are supporting dozens of local amateur, community, student and grassroots performance groups to showcase their skills. Each group has prepared a performance responding to the theme of 'Freedom' – they will interpret the theme in their own way.
The events will have a relaxed atmosphere. We encourage you to bring a picnic blanket to sit on. Food will be available to purchase and there will be a bar. You are also welcome to bring your own food.
The festival is inspired by the Royal Shakespeare Company’s successful community performance programme The Dell. It will celebrate the diversity of our city and bring you some surprises along the way.
