MacArthur Park

Jimmy Webb

Macarthur Park was a film from 1976 which was remade in 2005. The film is not as famous as its theme tune, which was originally sung by Richard Harris (yes, the actor who played Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films) and later recorded by Donna Summer. The version you are hearing is by the James Last Orchestra featuring the famous trumpet player, Derek Watkins. The music begins on the mellow sounds of the flugel horn and as the music builds in intensity, he swaps over to trumpet.

Derek is best known for his solo trumpet playing on the early James Bond film themes though he also played in classical and pop styles too.
