Yamaha are once again sponsoring the Brass Band Conductors’ Association’s (BBCA) conducting competition. The BBCA is delighted to have them on board for this, their annual flagship event, which will take place on Saturday 28 June at Halifax Minster.
BBCA Chair, James Holt, commented: "Yamaha have shown their commitment to the conducting competition over many years and the BBCA is very grateful for this. The day promises to be an exciting one with a high-class field of entrants taking part from around the globe. Good luck to all those involved!"
Watch the semi-finals
The ten semi-finalists will rehearse the fantastic Hammonds Band on either Variations by Thea Musgrave or Elgar Howarth’s In Memorium RK under the watchful eye of adjudicators Eduardo Portal and Katrina Marzella-Wheeler to earn a place in the final. The semi-final will be open to the public to watch, free of charge, between 11.15am and 2.45pm.
Gala Concert
Join us later the same day at 7.30pm for the Gala Concert, which will feature the five finalists as they each conduct a piece played by the Elland Silver Band as part of an entertaining concert programme at the helm of Dave McGlynn. The evening will conclude with the announcement of the winner and presentations. Tickets will be available via the Halifax Minster website from May onwards.
