Thank you Besson for sponsoring the Besson Prodige Showcase section at this year's National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, Youth Champs 2025, coming up this Saturday 29 March at Hymers College in Hull.
The Besson Prodige Showcase Section is the Youth Champs’ non-competitive section, offering an opportunity to take part and contribute a great performance without the pressure of competition. Bands of all standards are welcome to play, even if they’ve performed at the contest previously. All competitors in this section should have a positive experience to encourage them to continue to progress on their instrument. Bands can perform for a maximum of ten minutes but may be able to play for 15 minutes if requested in advance. Bands also opting to play in competitive sections will have this facilitated for them to avoid a scheduling clash between sections.
Alongside our regulars Tewit, we're thrilled to welcome six new bands to the event via this important introductory section. Here are the participants:
Maybury Primary School Brass Band
City of Hull Youth Band
Tewit Youth Band Junior Brass Band
Warren Wood Primary School
Besses Boys Band Training Band
Spennymoor Youth Band
The Egham BandTraining Band
Spennymore Town Band’s President, Hugh, told us: “We are so excited to be taking part the 2025 National Youth Championships for the first time. Our players range from 8 years old up to teens and we are also lucky to have members of Spennymoor Town Band who come along to support our young players each week. The band is looking forward to a trip from the North East and we are all excited to be playing at a much bigger event than we are used to and are hoping to be the best we can be!”
Many bands who took part or debuted in last year's Besson Prodige Showcase section have moved on to the YAMAHA Performance section for this year's event, whilst some of this year's debuting bands have graduated to Youth Champs after first taking part in our annual Youth Fest event.
City of Hull Youth Band told us: “The band really enjoyed taking part in the Youth Fest last year and are looking forward to presenting their program to you, which this term has featured dance as the main theme.”
Showcase section performances will run from 9.30am - midday, followed by feedback from our expert adjudication team. There will then be further performances from the Yamaha Performance section and Championship section.
If you'd like to come and lend your support, tickets are still available on the door.
And let's have a huge cheer to the bands that will be competing in this section at the weekend!
