With nominations for the 2022 Brass Bands England Awards due to close in just a couple of weeks, we’re shining a light on one of the most popular award categories - the Outstanding Contribution Award.
The Outstanding Contribution Award is intended for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their band, whether that's musically, through band organisation or community engagement. Or perhaps someone you know has shown great commitment and dedication or overcome challenges. We all know someone who has shaped our banding experience for the better, so why not give them the recognition they deserve?
Last year’s winner: Samantha Harrison
In 2021, Elland Silver Band’s Samantha Harrison was nominated by members of her band for her positive impact in supporting young players to transition from the band’s youth band to the senior band.
Samantha commented “I was really surprised when I heard I was chosen to receive this award. To have my work nationally recognised in the Brass Band movement is really wonderful and a great honour”.
Samantha has shown outstanding dedication and commitment to Elland Silver Band for many years, dedicating many hours to teaching youth and adults alike. In addition, she has applied for grants to help keep the band running and is a long-term dedicated player for the group.
