Thirsk Royal British Legion Band

The Thirsk Royal British Legion Band is a non-competing, friendly band at the heart of its community in the small market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Since the Band was formed on 9th May1985, it has grown in both size and stature, giving many brass and percussion players the opportunity to perform music.

Members are welcome regardless of experience. Tuition and instruments are provided where required, and our main band allows all players to perform almost immediately at a level to suit. We pride ourselves on a rewarding blend of musical training, performance, team work and socialising and perform at a wide variety of events throughout the year.

Rehearsal Info:

We practice on Tuesdays at Knayton Village Hall (YO7 4AZ) from 7.30pm until 9:30pm and perform several concerts during the course of each year, playing at locations such as local churches and the Thirsk Town Hall, as well as playing carols throughout the Christmas period.

We have a Training Band that rehearses from 6.30pm until 7.30pm and rehearsals for this are supported by a number of senior band members meaning that new players can join in immediately without the need for auditions. It also serves as a friendly and sociable environment for all where children from a number of local schools can get to know one another.
We welcome all ages (from 7 years) and abilities.
