A collaborative fundraising effort is underway between The Holst Society and the Malcolm Arnold Society, with the aim to deliver two significant recording projects that will open a new repertoire for bands to perform.
Two CD’s will be produced, with Foden’s Bands performing Arnold’s work and the Cory Band performing Holst’s. However, these recordings cannot happen without significant funding; whilst both Societies have already undertaken crowdfunding efforts, there is likely to still be a shortfall of £15,000.
The Holst CD is planned to be recorded in Cardiff in the autumn of 2023 under the batons of Philip Harper and guest conductor Martyn Brabbins. It will include his masterful ‘A Moorside Suite’, as well as several transcriptions such as ‘The Lure’ and ‘Fugal Overture’.
The Malcolm Arnold CD will go into production in 2024. It will include a number of world premieres, such as ‘Sweeney Todd’, ‘March: Overseas’ and ‘Machines’.
How can I help?
By donating, you will receive each of the recordings on a complimentary basis, and the opportunity to perform these works with your band. You can also indicate if you would like your name to be accredited as a donor in the liner notes of the two CDs. The Societies ask for a minimum donation of £50.
