Recruitment of Trustees

Are you passionate about brass bands? The Northern Regional Brass Band Trust is now seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to join the board of trustees.

The trust is a charity in its 50th year and has played a vital role in North-East brass banding throughout its existence. As well as masterclasses, bursaries and workshops the trust has led popular and ambitious projects which promote brass banding more generally such as The Durham Hymns.

The current board of trustees intend to step down at this November’s Annual General Meeting which raises important questions about the NRBBT’s future. We are hosting a meeting in September for individuals who are passionate about the future of banding in the North East will to step forward with fresh input and ideas. You don't have to play an instrument or be associated with a brass band to help; The role of a trustee means spending half-a-day per month (on average) on charity business including:

  • Helping to plan and run meetings
  • Helping with annual charity reporting
  • Supporting good governance
  • Promoting brass banding participation opportunities
  • Supporting projects and activities which bring brass music to the widest possible audiences

A range of roles are available including: Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary but we would also like to hear from people who would be interested in joining the board without a defined role.

The meeting takes place on Saturday 7 September at 10am at the Robin Todd Centre, South Hetton. DH6 2TH

For an informal conversation about the role please contact Brian Yates on 07940 033449 or email Jillian at jjdixon63@googlemail.com.
