About this event
Music from and inspired by The Lord of the Rings, celebrating the 70th anniversary J. R. R. Tolkien's literary masterpiece.
The Lord of the Rings was first published in three volumes between July 1954 to October 1955, and throughout 2024-25 City of Bristol Brass Band will mark this literary landmark in music through a series of performances of works inspired by or linked to Tolkien's pioneering tome.
Repertoire featured in the performances includes Gandalf and Hobbits from Johan De Meij's epic Lord of the Rings Symphony, a range of music from all three Lord of the Rings movie scores by Howard Shore, and Edward Gregson's An Age of Kings.
This performance features the massed bands of City of Bristol Brass Band and Lewis Merthyr Band.
