About this event
The classic family Christmas film returns to the big screen with a live accompaniment from City of Bristol Brass Band following two sold out shows last year. Before the film the band will be thrilling us with some classic Christmas tunes before treating us to the iconic soundtrack of Raymond Briggs’ timeless tale of a boy and his snowman, alongside the film. When a young boy starts making a snowman on Christmas, it magically comes to life. The snowman then takes him on a journey to meet Santa Claus. City of Bristol Brass Band itself was formed in 1936 by local businessman H S Perry (who also played euphonium in the band) and the former Lord Mayor of Bristol, William George Cozens. Originally entitled “Fishponds British Legion Band”, the band adopted its present title in the mid 1960s. ‘City of Bristol’ has been highly successful in both concert and competition throughout its history, becoming ODBBA, GBBA and West of England Regional Champions, and has also represented the city and region in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain on numerous occasions. Please note: the start time indicates when the band begin. Doors are open an hour before the advertised start time to give you time to relax and get your seats.
