Thoresby Colliery Band have been entertaining audiences for over 75 years. Formed by the colliery in 1948, the band have gone from strength to strength and are currently the highest ranked 1st section band in the Midlands and are aiming for promotion back to the Championship section . Although the pit has now gone, the band are still very proud of their local heritage and the links they hold with the local community.

Most of the musicians in Thoresby Colliery Band are passionate amateurs, who devote a considerable amount of their free time to rehearsals, performances and personal practice. The band rehearses twice a week at their band room in Clumber Park, and combines a wealth of experience to achieve the standard of performance you hear today.
Rehearsal Info:
We normally rehearse Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7.30pm - 9.30pm. We also add in extra rehearsals and sectionals in the weeks leading up to a major contest.
Rehearsals are usually followed by a drink in our local pub, The Park Inn, located next door to the band room.
