About this event
On the 31st of August 2021, we are hosting a free introductory event to all young people who may be interested in music or learning an instrument. The event is being hosted by Ellington Colliery Band in collaboration with Brass Bands England. The event is aimed at 9 to13-year-olds, although all young people are welcome. If you’ve never held a brass instrument before or you’re already a player who’d like to socialise and learn more, you’re welcome!
The day is being led by Helen Minshall, Youth Development Brass Specialist, from Brass Bands England and there will be a whole host of professional musicians and teachers in attendance to support the activities. The day will be fun and full of activities which will also help young people develop their skills with a brass instrument, even if they’ve never played one before. The day will be rounded off with a mini concert for parents and guardians. The event is completely free; instruments, tuition and fun will all be provided free of charge.
All you need to bring is yourself and your instrument if you have one. If you don’t have an instrument, don’t worry! We can provide beginners with an instrument to learn with for the day.
