The UniBrass Contest 2025 will be hosted for the first time by Cardiff University on Saturday 15th February 2025. We look forward to welcoming hundreds of participants from 23 universities at the world’s only inter-university brass band competition. The highlight of the university brass band calendar, many of the best young musicians in the county will travel to Cardiff to compete in two sections for the coveted prizes: the UniBrass Shield and the UniBrass Trophy. Each band will perform a carefully selected 20-minute set to impress our adjudicators, who will judge them on their musicality and level of entertainment.
Organised by students for students, UniBrass proudly stands as the largest event of its kind, bringing together students from universities across the country to showcase their musical talents and engage with like-minded people. One thing unifies all of them: performance at an astonishingly high standard. This is certainly not an event to miss!
After the contest, we are also delighted to showcase Llareggub Brass Band performing the Gala Concert - their unique mix of Bronx hip-op and New Orleans-inspired brass will have folks travelling from near and far.
